The R1 Tactical H2 Carbine Buffer weighing 4.6 oz is designed to slow the speed of the bolt during recoil.  A heavier buffer smooths out the felt recoil and allows more time for the next round from the magazine to move up into place.  Heavier buffers allow for longer dwell time by slowing down the cycle of the rifle and allows for more reliable function with shorter gas systems.  This is an inexpensive drop-in replacement buffer for fine-tuning your AR.
